Manhattan Building Permits at New Low
Manhattan building permits just reached an all time low - lower that the previous pandemic low in April 2020 of 1,135. In November 2021, permits of "other" properties dropped to 951.
The NYC Department of Building breaks down permits into two categories - 1-3 Family Properties and Other. Other includes commercial buildings and 4+ Family buildings.
We have focused on the Other category as 1-3 Family Permits consistently stays below 100 per month.
As seen below, the other boroughs have kept permits above the pandemic lows for the most part for 1-3 Family and the Other category.
